Toe-Tapper Faucet Switch
Obsolete As of Early 2020
We're sorry to report that the key component of the Toe-Tapper (the push button single-tap adapter fitting) is no longer sold by Gardener's Supply, and we can not find any other supplier. Until we can find a source for this item, we are no longer selling plans for toe tappers.
The Whizbang Toe-Tapper was invented by Herrick Kimball in 2014. It is a hands-free way to control the water in an outdoor sink. Just tap the switch with your foot to turn the water on and off. If you mount the switch at thigh or hip height, you can just give it a bump to switch the water on and off.
Outdoor sinks equipped with a Toe-Tapper are being used for washing garden produce (it's like having a summer kitchen), backyard poultry processing, and fish cleaning. Having both hands free allows you to work with greater ease and efficiency. The Toe-Tapper is also "arthritis-friendly." CLICK HERE to see a YouTube video showing how the Toe Tapper works. And if you'd like to see Herrick's very first, remarkably not-Whizbang Toe-Tapper prototype (it's a hoot!) CLICK HERE.

Already-Made Toe Tappers
The Toe-Tappers we sell are just like the one you see in the picture at the top of this page, except we now use 1/2" HDPE plastic for the base (the one in the picture is 3/4" thick). All hardware is stainless steel.

A garden hose is connected to one side of the Toe-Tapper (on the right in the photo above). A 5/8" Female Mender fitting allows a length of hose to be connected to the other side. The hose runs up to your sink faucet. NOTE: The mender fitting and hose are not included with the Toe-Tapper. You can purchase them at Lowes or Home Depot.

The part that the hoses connect to is a "push button single-tap adapter fitting." It is sold by Gardener's Supply (CLICK HERE for details). If you ever need to replace the tap adapter, you can purchase one from them and it's easy to make the switch.
